Wishlist: Giuseppe Zanotti Colorblock Wedge
February 22nd, 2012 § 2 Comments
This Giuseppe Zanotti patent leather sandal with wedge heel is on my wishlist not because I wish I could afford this shoe; more so I wish I could WEAR this shoe! I loved wearing heels in my former life (college student/young professional/loving my 20s). I wouldn’t have thought twice about rocking this 5 1/4″ heel. Ha! Not anymore. Nowadays, I prefer to stay closer to the ground (so I can hang with my little ones) AND for fear I’m going to fall and break something. So I’ll just admire and swoon from afar.
Check them out at ShoeBox New York.

Joan Smalls Global Spokesmodel for Estée Lauder
December 15th, 2010 § 2 Comments
If you haven’t heard of Joan Smalls, that is sure to change. This rising high fashion and editorial model who hails from Puerto Rico is the new face of Estée Lauder for skin care and cosmetics. She will join Estée Lauder’s roster of global beauties – Hilary Rhoda, Carolyn Murphy, Elizabeth Hurley, Constance Jablonski and Liu Wen – and debut in its global advertising campaigns beginning May 2011.
Joan made her debut in the world of high fashion in January 2010 when she was featured as the exclusive model for Ricardo Tisci’s Givenchy F/W 2010 Couture Show in Paris. Since then, she has quickly ascended to fashion’s top ranks by appearing on the runways in New York, Paris and Milan, for designers including Marc Jacobs, Prada, Gucci, Jil Sander, Derek Lam, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton.
Joan has also become a favorite of top fashion photographers including Mario Testino, Steven Meisel, Patrick Demarchelier, Mikael Jansson, David Sims and Craig McDean. She has appeared in editorials in the American, French, German and Italian editions of Vogue, as well as in Interview and I.D. Magazine.
I can’t wait to see more of Joan on the runway and print!

Show and Tell: Covergirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner
July 21st, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Covergirl recently sent Blended Beauté some of their latest products which I have played with and tested. Now the verdict is in…
This is a definite keeper! This eyeliner gives you the intensity and staying power of a liquid with the ease and blendability of a waterproof pencil. You can use the liner for intense definition or smoke it out with the built-in smudger. I don’t usually care for dual ended tools with smudgers but this smudger I like and it allows you to create a subtle, smoky look. These liners are also a great base for layering eyeshadow and building intensity. They come in six pigment-rich colors (CG sent them all) which I have added to my kit: Blackfire (I’m a softie for rich black eyeliner pencils), Brown Blaze, Silver Spark, Violet Voltage, Blue Boom and Green Glow.
Liquiline Blast is a versatile eyeliner. So versatile that makeup artist Pat McGrath (I ♥ her work) created several different looks using the eyeliner during Milan fashion shows for Bottega Veneta, Gucci and Lanvin. Here are some of those looks which I read about recently in Allure. You may not go to this extreme, but the pictures and pointers just might inspire you.
For a punk look at Bottega Veneta, McGrath smudged on a thick stripe of black cream shadow and darkened the creases and corners with LiquiLine Blast. She then topped it all with black shadow.
At Gucci, McGrath drew the pencil along the inner rims of the lids, then traced a razor thin line of it along the top lashes. On top of all the pencil, she swept a soft brown eye shadow.
For Lanvin’s tough makeup look, McGrath rimmed the eyes over and over with the pencil, then with black shadow, and dragged the mix out at the corners before dusting a sparkly antique-gold shadow on top for a “flash of light.”

Jac in Vogue Nippon Beauty
April 1st, 2010 § 2 Comments
Spreads like this leave me breathless. When my brother emailed me some of the pictures from the beauty supplement of Vogue Nippon’s May issue, I IMMEDIATELY responded to his message: HOT DAMN! Pardon the slip, but it was an honest reaction. I read that IMG represented model Jac Jagaciak is a newer face in the game but this editorial spread would have me believe she is seasoned. I love spreads like this and it’s been a while since once has excited me. It’s clean, fresh, elegant, modern and just plain smokin’ hot! Photographed by Solve Sundsbo. Love love love the exquisite and beautiful makeup by Val Garland. Styling by George Cortina. As a makeup artist, I was drawn to the tight face shots but check out other images on one of my brother’s favorite fashion blogs JEЯEMYDANTÉ. I also peeped them on Fashionising.com.
Beauté Spotlight: Original Women
March 21st, 2010 § 4 Comments
While working MORE Magazine’s Reinvention Convention a few weeks ago, I got a chance to check out some of the vendors who had set up shop. One that caught my eye because of their unique collection of hand-crafted creations was Original Women.
The company, founded in 2002 by Anelle Miller and Gwendy Feldman, celebrates the artistry of women from around the world, embracing the passion they have for their culture and heritage. From accessories, jewelry, shawls and scarves to bath and body, home decor, books and music, their pieces are unique and one-of-a-kind.
Scarves and jewelry from some of the many artisans around the world.
Original Women says nature is their inspiration and they encourage rethinking, recycling and innovation in using and reusing materials. I can appreciate a company that is eco-conscious and encourages it. Just ask my husband who gets caught every time he tries to throw away something that should be recycled.
So it’s no surprise I fell in love with this recycled billboard purse.
The sleek, slender bag is billboard back and front with black vinyl trim, fully lined with zipper closure and carrying handles. It’s quite roomy inside too. It was created from discarded vinyl billboards that would otherwise go to landfills, generating toxic pollution. Since starting, Original Women has recycled over 100 tons of vinyl billboards. And the graphic vinyl used as fabric results in one-of-a-kind colors and designs. Each accessory is a unique work of hip, urban art.
For more fashionable and earth-friendly pieces, check out Original-Women.com. There’s a recycled billboard cosmetic case that I’m eyeing as well!
We celebrate the artistry of women from around the world. We embrace the passion they have for their culture and heritage.
We are inspired by their achievements.
We showcase a unique collection of their creations – wearable, decorative and functional.
Trend Beauté: Tattoo Tights
March 14th, 2010 § 3 Comments
Chanel was definitely on to something when they sent their models down the spring/summer 2010 runway covered in transfer tattoos. Tattoo body art never looked so cool to me and others have certainly taken note as well. Thanks to Jessica, one of my readers, for hipping me to another cool trend: tattoo tights.
If you don’t want the hassle of applying body tattoo transfers, then these tights might be the way to go. It Socks in the UK has some great designs that will definitely have you turning heads. Here are just a few.
Visit itsocks.co.uk for pricing and other designs. I can’t decide which ones I’m going to try!
