Beauté Fave: Light Up Lip Glosses
September 28th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
These lovely lip glosses (also a favorite of Miss America) were quite popular at a recent makeup event I had. With three versatile shades to complement every skin tone and a minty-fresh flavor, ARTISTRY Light Up Lip Glosses add brilliant shine to your lips. They also look great over lipstick and they’re not sticky. A definite plus for me. Another cool feature is the super cute built-in mirror and LED light, perfect for touching up your pout anytime, anywhere. The lip glosses come in Glitz (cool undertone), Champagne (neutral undertone) and Passion (neutral undertone). Check them out. And remember, it’s not to soon to start thinking about that perfect holiday gift…Mwah!
FUN Friday: Happy Hour Lip Gloss
July 1st, 2010 § Leave a Comment
TGIF! Get the holiday weekend started right with our new Friday feature spotlighting fun, fabulous and often frugal beauty finds. First up are these super cute Happy Hour lip glosses.
Not Soap, Radio, which has tons of cool bath, body and beauty products, had this to say about them:
“Cheers! Raise your glass and kiss with a twist. Lips are shiny and happy hour after hour after hour…You won’t believe these sweet shiny glosses are alcohol free—they taste so completely like cocktails, you’ll be looking around for a cute bartender to tip.”
The glosses ($10 each) come in six flavors: tequila sunrise, blue hawaii, strawberry daiquiri, lemon drop, purple hooter and apple martini. I’ll drink to that!
Have a safe holiday weekend.

Get ‘em before they’re gone! LORAC Mocktail glosses are some of my favorite and at $3 a pop, I had to stock up. These flavored, high-shine lip glosses come in nine gorgeous colors. Guava Tiki (peachy pink), Tropical Dream (peach shimmer), Tequila Sunrise (tangerine) and Sex On The Beach (fuschia) are a few of my favorites. Check them out at www.Lorac.com before they go bye-bye.
Spring Beauty Picks

Keep things light as the days warm up with these seasonal selections:
OPI Nail Lacquer in Suzi Says Feng Shui is a cool pool blue that will look chic and ladylike with the many cute spring sandals I’ve been eyeing.
I’m loving color for spring and Dolce & Gabanna’s Smooth Eye Colour Duo in Mystery doesn’t disappoint. The lavender and brown will make for a sexy smoky eye. See more duos at Dolce & Gabanna Make Up.
Shiseido’s Makeup Luminizing Lip Gloss in Pop Life is the perfect cotton-candy pink for spring.
Another nail color I’m feeling is Jelly by Butter London in Twee. It’s an ultrasheer magenta that’s a welcome alternative to the classic opaque nail. For more lovely lacquer options, visit Butter London.
Coming up: Spring Beauty Picks for lovely locks.
Trend Beauté: ARTISTRY Colourplay Spring Collection
March 22nd, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Your answer to beautiful spring makeup is here! I’m excited about the ARTISTRY Colourplay Trend Colour Collection. It’s feminine, flirty and bursting with color. Show your playful side this season with sheer sweeps of candy-colored hues on eyes and luscious lips kissed with shades from glossy to more subtle. The products in this collection are great for multitasking and according to Artistry, “put the power of pretty at your fingertips.”
The Eye Stick allows you to glide on a little or a lot because its blendable color and effortless application make it a breeze to turn your look up or tone it down. It’s smooth, creamy and you can easily build color. Eye Stick comes in two shades: Glow, pictured, which also works great as a pearlescent highlighter. Just sweep across cheekbones for a soft, candlelight luminosity. And Lush (a beautiful spring green) which can be worn understated: think an irridescent moss gray. Or play it up to a fresh, seafoamy jade.
The Eye Line and Shine is perfectly coordinated shadow and liner in a dual-ended eye wand. On one end, an
automatic eyeliner, on the other a smudging tool. Simply twist the middle to reveal a shimmering powder eye shadow and built-in applicator. Eye Line and Shine comes in Twilight/Vivid (a violet and petal pink duo) and Marine/Daydream (an aquamarine and salmon combo).
Get luscious lips in a twist with the Lip Line and Shimmer. It’s a double-ended lip liner and lip color in one. Line and softly define, then fill your lips with creamy colour. Lip Line and Shimmer comes in Bombshell, left, (a rich raspberry) and Vixen.

If you’d rather drench your lips with a gorgeous glossing of color, then reach for Colourplay Lip Gloss. It has ingredients like jojoba oil to nourish your pout, while vitamins C and E moisturize and protect. Pucker up with Sweet (a spring pink) and Splendor (a warm rose).
For more on the Colourplay Trend Collection visit ShopArtistryNow.com. It’s definitely one of my favorites of the season with it’s fresh-from-the-runway colors. Check out the podcast video too for a behind-the-scenes look at the photo shoot and see these gorgeous colors on three different models. The collection, priced between $12.50-$22.00, is available while supplies last. At last, spring is finally here!

Kiss and Makeup for Valentine’s
January 22nd, 2010 § 2 Comments
Cupid’s arrow is in the air as the holiday of love nears. If you plan to lock lips with a special someone, here are some lip products to put you in the mood for love. Or maybe not. Either way, your pout will be pretty and poppin’.
THE ROMANTIC Your lips won’t go unnoticed with Estee Lauder’s Love Your Lips. The limited-edition collection features 12 Estée Lauder Signature Hydra Lustre Lipstick shades ($19.50) and 4 NEW Kissable Lip Glosses ($18.00). Each lipstick features a special “L♥VE” logo on the bullet and the glosses are packaged in uniquely designed vials with the same logo. This collection is too cute and the colors range from Pink to Berry, Mauve to Plum or Coral to Red.
LOVE AFFAIR MAC has put together some great colors in this Valentine’s promotion. Or as they describe it:
“…heart-racing lip colours plucked from Cupid’s palette. Be devilish, sweet or divine!”
Whatever your mood, these colors won’t disappoint. Lipstick colors are Violetta, Snob, Lovelorn (my fave), Lady Danger and Lickable; Dazzleglass Creme colors are Totally Fab, My Favorite Pink (my fave for real) and Creme Allure; and Lip liner colors Beet, Red and Dervish.
PASSIONATE FLING These Lorac mini lip glosses from their Croc Mocktail collection are perfect for those who prefer small clutches or purses. If you plan to be out on the town for Valentine’s, just pop your color of choice in the bag for quick touch-ups. I bought this special edition set recently and I’m loving every color. They’re yummy-smelling and the colors will look good on any skin tone. Wear them alone or over your favorite lipstick for added shine. And for only $7.50, that’s a Valentine’s steal.
Kiss Kiss!
Warm Up with Spring 2010 Makeup Trends: Lips
January 8th, 2010 § 3 Comments
Baby, it’s cold outside! But don’t dismay. This freezin’ winter weather can’t stop my warm, fuzzy thoughts about what’s in store for spring makeup. And one trend I’m cozying up to is megawatt lips.
“Brighter shades for brighter times was the makeup message” on the spring runways, according to Vogue. And the focus was on lips rather than eyes. Electric orange, tangerine, lavender, bright reds and fuchsia are going to pack a powerful explosion of color on lips for spring. “There’s more of a wow factor with a really fresh watermelon or coral lip,” according to makeup artist Lucia Pieroni who worked such shades at Missoni.
One thing I’ve noticed in reading about this trend is the use of fruit and vegetable-inspired colors: Tomato, cantaloupe, grape, raspberry, peach. Spring colors will definitely be delicious and wearable. Here are some lipsticks and glosses to consider for some serious pop art.
PRETTY PURPLE Nars Easy Lover Lip Gloss; Chanel Rouge Allure lip color in Provocative; and Neutrogena Moisturizing Lipstick in Cherrytwist.
THINK PINK MAC Pro Lipstick Show Orchid; MAC Lipstick Saint Germain; Clinique Long Last Lipstick in Watermelon; and Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick in Pop Pink.
ELECTRIC ORANGE Covergirl Shineblast Lip Gloss in Ignite; Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Coral Crush; and Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Day Lily.
Warmer days are on the way so get ready to “push the boundaries of bold” with these super saturated colors.

Favorite Things Giveaway 7: Steelo Cosmetics
December 20th, 2009 § Leave a Comment
Steelo Cosmetics is a new cosmetics line that I’m loving and wearing. (Read my previous writeup here). You can tell from their rich colors that it was created with women of color in mind. I’m a big fan of the vitamin-enriched Liquid Pearl lip glosses, which are mentioned in fact in the January 2010 issue of Essence. They glide on with a sparkling finish, they’re not sticky which is always a plus; and they look great worn alone or over lipstick. The glosses are available in nine popping shades, and three of their best-selling colors, pictured from left to right, are up for grabs; Vintage (a golden bronze with sparkling glitter. Think “Oh Baby” from MAC). Exhale (a warm plum with pearl) and Temptation (a soft, sheer shimmery gold). Ready to pucker up for the holidays? Enter to win by completing the form below or send an email to blendedbeaute@gmail.com. Good luck! Contest open to U.S. residents only.
Congrats to Ashley and Shan, winners in the Temptu ADORN giveway.
Blended Beauté has one more giveway just before Santa makes his rounds, so keep following. You might be one of the lucky 10 to win!
Favorite Things Giveaway 3: Luscious Lips
December 4th, 2009 § Leave a Comment
Smile bright for the holidays with five of our favorite lip products that will definitely give you the perfect pout.
Revitalize, hydrate, and pamper your lips so that new lip color you’ve been dying to wear looks its best. The Artistry Lip Care Kit offers a gentle exfoliating Lip Polish that lightly buffs away dry skin cells from lips, while the Lip Conditioner instantly softens, soothes, and smoothes. This kit is a Blended Beauté favorite because it truly creates soft, supple lips. And both products together provide the ultimate protection without being heavy or sticky.
Smashbox’s WISH for the Perfect Pout is a limited-edition set of six gorgeous glosses showcasing best-selling and new-for-holiday shades, including two bonus full-size glosses. The set includese Pout (full size), Luster (full size), Tease, Candy, Aura and Radiant.
Get high shine and major flavor with Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush lip glosses. The set includes Cherry Bomb (sheer red), Strawberry Fizz (light pink shimmer) and Cupquake (pink shimmer). Pucker up with a satiny swipe of yummy color.

Want a grown and sexy lipshine? Then reach for Lancôme’s La Laque Fever Ultimate Lasting Full Color Lipshine. I loved this when PR sent it to try because of its great color payoff and shine in one gliding stroke. And it truly is lasting. I didn’t need to touch up for hours. I usually don’t like the applicators that come with glosses, but this “soft-sculpt” applicator is different. Not only does the color glide on, but it precisely defines fuller lips in an even layer and shapes the contours of the lips for a great application. Fever lipshine is available in over 20 shades too. Since purple is hot this season, we have the universally flattering Plum Savvy up for grabs!
I’d never heard of Laneíge Cosmetics until a trip to San Diego over the summer. I was shopping in a small boutique in Old Town where I tried several products. Truly liked the Snow Crystal Sheer Lipgloss and love the concept behind the line:
“When light meets snow crystals, the reflection generates different effects in each of the six steps in the snow’s journey. Those effects are incorporated in the makeup line of Laneíge.”
Snow Crystal Sheer lipgloss has beautiful shimmer and shine without stickiness. The texture is light and the finish is glassy, sleek, sheer brilliance. It has a great soft-tip applicator as well. It comes in 15 shades of which Shine Purple is up for grabs.
