Swarovski Crystal Vaseline
December 16th, 2010 § 1 Comment
Bling! Bling! Vaseline has gone glam for its 140th anniversary with a limited edition Swarovski Crystal jar. Yep, the petroleum jelly has been around since 1870!
I have used Vaseline for years. It’s even in my makeup kit. I especially reach for it during the winter. And I’m loving the new flip top container because I can close it without getting product all over the lid. Some of my favorite uses for VPJ:
- Use on eyebrows so they’re less unruly; gives a great soft sheen too.
- Use over eyeshadow for an illuminating gloss effect on eyes (did this for a photo shoot; wouldn’t recommend for daily makeup wear).
- Put it on your teeth so your lip color doesn’t stick to them.
- Mix it with an old lipstick for a fresh new color.
- Rub it all over your feet and sleep in thick socks; makes them soft and supple.
- Instant relief for dry, chapped, cracked lips.
- Mix with lotion to increase moveability; also makes it seem less greasy.
- Rub it on rough areas: elbows, knees and ankles.
To celebrate its 140th anniversary, Vaseline has contests for VPJ users on its Facebook page. Just submit your favorite uses for Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, and each week, they’ll select a winner to receive a Limited Edition Swarovski Crystal Jar of VPJ (worth $100) and a $500 gift card! They will also randomly select 5 winners, who submit a video, to win a Limited Edition Swarovski Crystal Jar set (worth $750) and a $1,000 gift card! Check out the contest at www.facebook.com/vaseline.
Happy Anniversary Vaseline!
Prime Time: ARTISTRY Skin Refinishing Lotion
July 12th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
I’m forever trying primers and never realized the primer of my dreams was right under my own nose. I was working a
wedding over the weekend with a fellow MUA when we started talking about primers we liked. She recently discovered ARTISTRY’s Skin Refinishing Lotion (already one of favorite ARTISTRY products) doubles as an awesome primer. This is why I enjoy working with other artists: Opportunities to share knowledge and pick up tips. I sing this products praises because as a daily exfoliator, it uses a combination of sugar derivatives, algae and oat proteins that leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. It also provides an immediate moisture surge and improves the overall tone and luminosity of your skin if used regularly. But it never occurred to me to use it as a primer, despite it having the look, feel, ingredients and results of many primers I’ve tried. I will definitely be treating my clients to this prior to applying their foundation. But don’t take my word for it, check out what other satisfied customers had to say.

Show and Tell: Skin MD Shielding Lotion
January 25th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
PR sent. Blended Beauté tried and the verdict is in: This is some good stuff! According to the company, Skin
MD Shielding Lotion + Sunscreen SPF 15 is a lotion that combines the best features of shielding and sunscreen lotions. It helps prevent loss of natural oils and moisture, doesn’t allow irritating substances to penetrate the skin and absorbs the part of the UV spectrum that contributes to premature skin ageing and development of skin cancers.
I have been using this lotion for the past three weeks, and I had a friend try it too. Her face had been dry and irritated thanks to Old Man Winter, but since using the Shielding Lotion, she has seen considerable changes in her skin. For starters, she applied it as often as needed, whenever her face felt dry or taut. This is a necessary step until your skin gets used to the product. After a week or so, she only applied it twice a day and has raved about how her skin looks and feels. I’ll let her tell you more:
“I love that this lotion is light and keeps my skin moisturized. I even like the sunscreen. Other products I’ve tried with sunscreen felt goopy; but not this moisturizer. Nor does it leave my skin feeling oily or shiny.”
I tried it as a moisturizer, but I also tested it as a primer on myself and clients before applying their makeup. As a moisturizer it absorbed quickly; there was no
greasy residue or oily feeling. And it’s odorless, so no strong sunscreen smell. As a primer, it really left my skin feeling silky smooth and my foundation glided on as if I had used my regular go-to primer.
And the price is right for such a highly potent moisturizing lotion. Only $18 for a 4-oz bottle that will last because a little truly goes a loooong way.
I want you to experience this lotion for yourself, so enter our giveaway for a chance to win a bottle of Skin MD’s Shielding Lotion. Complete the form below or send an email to blendedbeaute@gmail.com. Your skin will love you for it!
