Spring Beauty Picks

Keep things light as the days warm up with these seasonal selections:
OPI Nail Lacquer in Suzi Says Feng Shui is a cool pool blue that will look chic and ladylike with the many cute spring sandals I’ve been eyeing.
I’m loving color for spring and Dolce & Gabanna’s Smooth Eye Colour Duo in Mystery doesn’t disappoint. The lavender and brown will make for a sexy smoky eye. See more duos at Dolce & Gabanna Make Up.
Shiseido’s Makeup Luminizing Lip Gloss in Pop Life is the perfect cotton-candy pink for spring.
Another nail color I’m feeling is Jelly by Butter London in Twee. It’s an ultrasheer magenta that’s a welcome alternative to the classic opaque nail. For more lovely lacquer options, visit Butter London.

Trend Beauté: ARTISTRY Colourplay Spring Collection
March 22nd, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Your answer to beautiful spring makeup is here! I’m excited about the ARTISTRY Colourplay Trend Colour Collection. It’s feminine, flirty and bursting with color. Show your playful side this season with sheer sweeps of candy-colored hues on eyes and luscious lips kissed with shades from glossy to more subtle. The products in this collection are great for multitasking and according to Artistry, “put the power of pretty at your fingertips.”
The Eye Stick allows you to glide on a little or a lot because its blendable color and effortless application make it a breeze to turn your look up or tone it down. It’s smooth, creamy and you can easily build color. Eye Stick comes in two shades: Glow, pictured, which also works great as a pearlescent highlighter. Just sweep across cheekbones for a soft, candlelight luminosity. And Lush (a beautiful spring green) which can be worn understated: think an irridescent moss gray. Or play it up to a fresh, seafoamy jade.
The Eye Line and Shine is perfectly coordinated shadow and liner in a dual-ended eye wand. On one end, an
automatic eyeliner, on the other a smudging tool. Simply twist the middle to reveal a shimmering powder eye shadow and built-in applicator. Eye Line and Shine comes in Twilight/Vivid (a violet and petal pink duo) and Marine/Daydream (an aquamarine and salmon combo).
Get luscious lips in a twist with the Lip Line and Shimmer. It’s a double-ended lip liner and lip color in one. Line and softly define, then fill your lips with creamy colour. Lip Line and Shimmer comes in Bombshell, left, (a rich raspberry) and Vixen.

If you’d rather drench your lips with a gorgeous glossing of color, then reach for Colourplay Lip Gloss. It has ingredients like jojoba oil to nourish your pout, while vitamins C and E moisturize and protect. Pucker up with Sweet (a spring pink) and Splendor (a warm rose).
For more on the Colourplay Trend Collection visit ShopArtistryNow.com. It’s definitely one of my favorites of the season with it’s fresh-from-the-runway colors. Check out the podcast video too for a behind-the-scenes look at the photo shoot and see these gorgeous colors on three different models. The collection, priced between $12.50-$22.00, is available while supplies last. At last, spring is finally here!

TREND Beauté: Chanel Transfer Tattoos
January 12th, 2010 § 6 Comments
I don’t think I’ll ever get inked permanently. And if the temporary tattoo craze continues, I won’t have too. Chanel sent its models down the spring/summer 2010 catwalk covered in transfer tattoos, and it looks to be the hottest new beauty trend of the season. Take a look at the illusions of chain bracelets (complete with logo pendants) developed by creative director Peter Philips.
“This ‘rocker image’ of tattoos will make quite an appealing contrast to this spring’s otherwise quite romantic theme featuring lots of florals, ruffles, and transparent materials,” says an industry insider.
Fifty-five different designs, packaged under the name of Les Trompe L’Oeil de Chanel, will start selling online for around $75 and in international department stores such as Selfridges starting March 1. Not ready to splurge that much on temporary tats? Then check out a more affordable option here.
TREND Beauté: Spring Makeup for Face and Eyes
January 9th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
We covered the bold, bright and beautiful of what spring will bring for lips. Let’s see what’s in store for the face and eyes.
FACE Bye-bye to over-bronzed skin. Natural-looking makeup will be big this spring. A natural look begins with flawless skin so it’s important to keep your skin looking its best. Flawless skin and little mascara, bare or soft color on lips and a mineral foundation completes the look. Reach for an Artistry Essentials makeup kit to help you pull off this look. It includes a mineral foundation and will be a perfect complement to your spring makeup routine.
CHEEKS Bright pinks and corals (think doll makeup colors) are great cheek colors for spring. They look gorgeous on every skin tone as well. The trick is the darker your skin, the brighter and more pigmented the hue should be.
EYES Spring eyes will cover a range. Au naturale eye makeup (as seen above) is one trend as well as brazen and dramatic, colorful eyes. Shades of green, blue, hot pink, yellow and purple add a lot of fun and will look fresh for spring. Add texture with shimmer or go for the glitter. From Elle.com: “There’s a lot of glitter going on this season,” says makeup artist Pat McGrath, who created fiery copper-red lids at Prada (bottom picture).
Keep in mind the purpose of trends is to serve as inspiration. They are not hard-and-fast rules on how you should wear your makeup. Some trends may not be for you. Ultimately, it’s about doing what makes you look and feel your best, trend or not.

Warm Up with Spring 2010 Makeup Trends: Lips
January 8th, 2010 § 3 Comments
Baby, it’s cold outside! But don’t dismay. This freezin’ winter weather can’t stop my warm, fuzzy thoughts about what’s in store for spring makeup. And one trend I’m cozying up to is megawatt lips.
“Brighter shades for brighter times was the makeup message” on the spring runways, according to Vogue. And the focus was on lips rather than eyes. Electric orange, tangerine, lavender, bright reds and fuchsia are going to pack a powerful explosion of color on lips for spring. “There’s more of a wow factor with a really fresh watermelon or coral lip,” according to makeup artist Lucia Pieroni who worked such shades at Missoni.
One thing I’ve noticed in reading about this trend is the use of fruit and vegetable-inspired colors: Tomato, cantaloupe, grape, raspberry, peach. Spring colors will definitely be delicious and wearable. Here are some lipsticks and glosses to consider for some serious pop art.
PRETTY PURPLE Nars Easy Lover Lip Gloss; Chanel Rouge Allure lip color in Provocative; and Neutrogena Moisturizing Lipstick in Cherrytwist.
THINK PINK MAC Pro Lipstick Show Orchid; MAC Lipstick Saint Germain; Clinique Long Last Lipstick in Watermelon; and Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick in Pop Pink.
ELECTRIC ORANGE Covergirl Shineblast Lip Gloss in Ignite; Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Coral Crush; and Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Day Lily.
Warmer days are on the way so get ready to “push the boundaries of bold” with these super saturated colors.
